Spot the International Space Station

From Rice University: If you haven’t seen an ISS overflight, It can be beautiful.  We had one recently in Houston that went almost directly overhead.

To find out when the next one for your location is, go to:
And put in  your city’s name.
You can sign up to get email alerts when a good one will be near you.
The best time to observe is just after dusk or just before dawn, when YOU are in the dark but the ISS is in sunlight!
You do not need telescopes, but binoculars can be nice.  It moves pretty quickly.
A good high-pixel count digital camera with telephoto can even get some detail, especially if you are lucky and it passes in front of the moon.
If its in the evening in 1Q moon or morning in 3Q moon you could get lucky and get them both in the same shot!
One person even got a set of photos of the ISS in front of the Sun!
